Founded in 2010, the Center for School Climate and Learning's mission is to help schools achieve greater academic success by promoting positive school climate and respectful, engaging teaching.
For over 10 years we conducted school climate research and improvement projects under the name Main Street Academix, but in 2010 the Center for School Climate and Learning was founded as a way to broaden our school climate work and become a clearinghouse for current ideas in the improvement of school climate as and essential element of improving student learning and academic achievement.
The Center provides comprehensive and effective school climate research, assessment tools and services and exciting professional development opportunities for teachers, student leaders, and school administrators as we continue to work in schools in New England, where we are based, as well as across the country.
Our programs and services are designed to provide exciting leadership roles for diverse teams of students as "action researchers and "school climate leaders". These student teams work collaboratively with school leaders and teachers to help evaluate school climate and culture, to develop data-driven action plans and school-wide and classroom level activities to improve school climate, prevent bullying and school violence, reduce dropouts, and re-engage disengaged learners.
We accomplish this through our SAFEMEASURES which help schools improve their discipline systems, enhance teacher effectiveness, and expand student engagement in school and learning.
~ Participant's Feed back from Working with Demonstrating Success and Center for School Climate and Learning in April 2018:
" I LOVED this session. It was incredibly helpful to me as I have been trying to build positive culture within my school with a staff and student group. I will definitely be using the activities and wish to bring him (Bill) to our school."
